WHO-PEN@Scale open-source toolkit contain all products developed as part of the WHO-PEN@Scale project that would be helpful for organisational, local, or national scale-up of WHO-PEN in other settings.
1. Open-Source Code for the Smartphone App
The mobile application designed to assist RHMs in their counselling efforts related to diabetes and hypertension. The app estimates a client’s risk level by considering personal health data entered into the app by the RHM: gender, age, waist circumference, pregnancy, smoking, alcohol consumption, hydration, physical activity, difficulty breathing, and dietary habits.
The evaluation of the developed app indicated that the developed mobile app was well-received by RHMs, guiding them through NCD counselling and improving job satisfaction. The app has the potential to be adapted and implemented in other countries with similar decentralized healthcare systems, providing evidence and guidance for decision makers and policymakers.
